3 SD cards from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental was thrown and was confirmed by COMELEC.
May 16, 2016, Monday, The COMELEC confirmed that 3 Secure Digital (SD) Cards was accidentally thrown after the election on May 9, 2016.
“Through inadvertence, hindi napansin na naisama ‘yung mga envelopes na mayroong laman na SD card,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez explained.
May 11, 2016 Wednesday, the 3 SD cards were found by scavengers in a dump site and now are in the hands of the COMELEC. The 2 SD cards was found in the envelope while the other envelope was torn already but the card was found nearby. The SD cards were found by Neca Sialsa, 24 and Gina Regalado, 48.
“Once the cards were found, naibalik kaagad ito sa provincial at naisama sa manual import,” Jimenez said. “The data has been validated and 100 percent [ang] transmission sa Kabankalan.”
Revo Sorbito maintained that no anomaly took place and that all three missing SD cards had been found and submitted to the Comelec provincial office. He pointed out that the winners in Kabankalan were proclaimed on Tuesday, a day after the polls and the voting results in the city were submitted to the central server.
The SD cards contain data on 2,165 votes from each of the three clusters affected in a certain barangay with 712 from cluster 1, 734 from cluster 2 and 719 from cluster 3.
Liberal Party tandem Manuel Roxas II and Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo topped the presidential and vice presidential race in Kabankalan with 579,810 and 614,440 votes from a total number of registered voters of 1,388,951.
